52 Weeks of Baking: Pecan Pie Cookies | 52 weeks of baking, cookies, desserts | yumsugar - Food, Drink, & Entertaining.I originally thought I'd make a classic Thanksgiving pie for this week's baking project. However, as you may know, pie crust tends to thwart me. So instead of struggling about, I started thinking about ways to make a pie without making a pie. Eventually, I landed upon the idea of a pecan pie cookie and after a bit of googling, I found a recipe that sounded just right. The result — a thumb-print cookie with a caramelized-pecan filling — was definitely reminiscent of pecan pie, only a lot easier to put together. If you're looking for a treat for an upcoming Thanksgiving potluck, then look no further, get the recipe, just read more

Wine Party PlanOnlineSterling.com - Wine Party Ideas
At most parties, wine plays a supporting role. Host a gathering that gives it center stage with a blind tasting in which guests rate different wines.
1. Decide on a type of wine, a country or a region, and have each guest bring a bottle (6-8 bottles is a good number).
2. Cloak the bottles in wine bags, so opinions won't be swayed by a pretty label or a famous name. Tag each bottle with a number and give each guest a sheet of paper and a pencil.
3. Choose colorless wine glasses with full bowls that taper to the rim, so tasters can swirl the wine without spilling and appreciate all the nuances of color, bouquet and flavor.
4. Fill glasses no more than 1/3, and set a bottle of water and an empty bowl on the table so tasters can empty and rinse their glass before trying the next wine.
5. Provide mild-flavored nibbles like fresh bread or water crackers to cleanse the palate between sips.
6. Have guests rate each bottle and record the score on their forms. After all wines have been tasted, tally the scores. Then uncloak the bottles and award a prize (a set of wine charms, for instance) to the person who brought the top-ranking wine.

The Nineties were the decade of technology with the rise to prominence of the personal computer, cellular phone, MP3, and Palm Pilot. But perhaps the single most important advance was the growth of the information superhighway: the Internet. In international relations, the 1990's started off with Persian Gulf War, where General Norman Schwarzkopff commanded the United States Military to easy victory after Iraq invaded Kuwait. Tragedy stuck in 1995 when a terrorist bomb killed 168 Americans in a downtown Oklahoma City Federal building and Former football star and television personality OJ Simpson was accused of murdering his wife. The "trial of the century" resulted and Simpson was acquitted of the crime. The decade ended with President Bill Clinton involved in a sex scandal and the whole nation frantically preparing for the Y2K bug.
Where were you during the OJ verdict?
